Our Chairperson Dr Xenia Loizidou had a meeting this week with the Mayor of Yeroskipou in the Municipality about the launch of our new program #SincerelyFood in their community.
Later our chairperson made a presentation about the new program in SKE Yeroskipou.
As Ms Loizidou said Sincerely Food Cyprus, is focusing on raising awareness and promoting methods to reduce food waste in households and food services, which are the ultimate recipients of food and account for 53% and 12% respectively.
Various activities will be organized in the Free and Occupied Territories, as well as a culinary competition in the form of the Master Chef, organized in cooperation with the Federation of Filipino Organizations in Cyprus (FFOC). Groups from different cultures will take part, and one of the criteria for the competition will be to avoid food waste during the preparation and cooking process.
Reducing food waste will contribute to achieving the following UN Sustainable Development Goals: Objective 2 – Zero Hunger, Objective 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, Objective – Climate Action.
