Watersave

The children/pupils participate voluntarily in
the implementation of the project. The effort is to indicate that
with simple ways and by adopting a more responsible attitude towards
water usage, we can decrease water consumption. This target has been
met in other countries.
During the first year of the project (2005- 2006) an educational
package has been developed in Greece by Mediterranean SOS in
collaboration with the teachers and the pupils. The package is
designed in an innovating way, in order to be attractive both for
pupils and their teachers. It contains rich material on water saving
practises and principles, theory and information on water (e.g. the
water cycle), experiences from other countries and more and more.
The academic year 2006 - 2007 Mediterranean SOS and
AKTI Project and Research Centre are
collaborating for enriching the educational material with data,
info, experiences and examples from Cyprus.
A total number of 2500 pupils
from
40
different elementary schools will be reached through Watersave
Project, in Greece (Attiki, Thessaloniki, Volos, Heraklion, Patras)
and in Cyprus (Nicosia, Pafos, Larnaka, Aglantzia).
In
Cyprus, after the approval from the relevant Department of the Ministry of
Education and Culture, four elementary
schools are participating in the
implementation of the educational package and the actions of
Watersave:
