Well, it actually is! Check out our 2nd Awareness-raising campaign, within the framework of the AdvocaCY project, to learn about CSOs and their role in society.
“Zero Waste Beach” has been very successful in Cyprus for the past years; our activities have raised awareness among more than 10 million citizens through social and traditional media.
The results of this year’s “Zero Waste Beach” (July 2022 – June 2023) are impressive! The Responsible HoReCa Business Network has 320 Members, 972 tonnes of Recyclable waste of which 283 tonnes of Plastic Metal and Drinking cartons (PMD) were collected by our Members and the collaborating Local Authorities and characterised by AKTI!
For the past years “Zero Waste Future” has been very successful in Malta with the funding from the Coca-Cola Foundation.
The results of this year’s “Zero Waste Future” (July 2022 – April 2023) are impressive! The waste characterization study, which is happening for the first time in Malta, was expanded to cover all three cities of Cottonera (Birgu, Cospicua, and Senglea) covering 66 sampling points over 3 sampling sessions. The positive impact of DRS on minimising the amount of residual waste was visible. 50 HoReCa members were enrolled in the Responsible Coastal Business Network and 17 tonnes of PET waste was collected and recycled in cooperation with Festivals Malta and the NGO Zibel. Additionally, more than 4 million citizens were reached through awareness raising activities.
On 1st June AKTI is organising a beach and seabed cleanup of Dasoudi Beach in Limassol.
The event is under the auspices of the French Embassy in Cyprus and will be attended by H.E. Mrs Salina Grenet-Catalano, Ambassador of France to Cyprus, Blue Thunder Diving, and Germasogeia Primary School.
Seabed cleanup starts at 9:00 am and beach cleanup starts at 10:00 am
