AKTI organized the introductory Nurish workshop, with the support of the Municipality, bringing together local farmers and livestock breeders to introduce an innovative co-composting model for pruning and livestock waste.
The workshop presented the Circular Symbiotic Green Waste Management Scheme, a full co-composting system AKTI is bringing to Athienou, transforming agricultural and municipal prunings and animal manure into high-quality, low-cost compost. The scheme will be co-managed by AKTI and the Municipality, aiming to:
🟢 Improve soil health, moisture, and fertility
🟢Reduce CO₂ emissions from pruning transport
🟢Minimize chemical fertilizer use
🟢Create new green jobs
Participants shared their practices, discussed key challenges, and contributed data on pruning and manure quantities, a crucial step to ensure solutions are grounded in local realities.
NURISH shows how circular practices can regenerate soils, reduce emissions, and support sustainable farming!
