AKTI Project and Research Center launches the «GREEN CLUSTER SYNERGIES COMPETITION», the first of its kind in Cyprus! The objective is the creation of synergies among Cypriot enterprises, to achieve innovation through cooperation and extroversion of ideas.

Are you a Cypriot micro – enterprise, start – up or individual entrepreneur, interested in sustainability and innovation?

Become a Green Cluster member, develop and submit your synergy concept, with at least one more Green Cluster member, and get ready to compete!

A panel of experts will evaluate and assess the proposals, based on the following criteria: structure, market potential, implementation potential, extroversion potential, innovation, sustainability.

The first three winning synergies will be awarded and promoted locally and internationally.

• 1st Prize: €2000 to cover the expenses of the winning team to travel and participate in an international training/ conference/ exhibition/ networking event of their choice.
• SPECIAL AWARD for synergies from the Tourism, Hospitality and Agro-Industry sectors: One week of networking travel in India. Explore potentials to expand your business. All expenses covered!!! Sponsored by the High Commission of India in Cyprus.

AKTI Project and Research Centre is looking for volunteers, for its environmental activities for summer 2016, in cooperation with Municipalities and Community Councils of Blue Flag beaches!

The activities consist of:

1. Beach Clean-up, recording of marine litter per category in AKTI’s Cyprus Marine Litter Database, which is linked to the international database of Ocean Conservancy.

2. Chiringuitos Responsables: Beach bars, cafes and restaurants, are informed as to how they can be more environmentally friendly.

On Saturday, 23 April 2016, AKTI with the Green Cluster and MalitCy projects participated at an event organised by the American Embassy in Cyprus, on the occasion of Earth Day. The event began with a short speech, followed by a group run along the cliffs at Governor’s Beach with sweeping morning views of the Mediterranean. Members of AKTI, within the framework of MarLitCy, then gave a short presentation and organised a five-minute beach “speed clean up” followed by a short source identification workshop to educate participants on common sources of marine pollution.

On Saturday, 7th May at 9.45am, the U.S. Embassy and AKTI, along with other runners and volunteers, will join together for another beach fun run clean up, followed by a 5-minute beach speed cleanup and source identification workshop led by AKTI, within the framework of the MarlitCy project, and with the participation of other NGO partners. Ο Δήμος Αγλαντζιάς σε συνεργασία με την ΑΚΤΗ Κέντρο Μελετών και Έρευνας, υπό την αιγίδα της Επιτρόπου Περιβάλλοντος και στα πλαίσια του Let’s do it Cyprus οργανώνουν γενικό καθαρισμό του πάρκου Αγίου Γεωργίου (Αθαλάσσης) και της λίμνης του!

We are pleased to announce that AKTI Project and Research Centre within the Green Cluster is accepting applications for the Urban Nature and Community Gardens training seminar.

The Urban Nature Delegation is a 7 day training seminar on community gardens in Israel for professionals and youth leaders. The training aims to offer professional networking opportunities, exchange of ideas and help promote the development of urban nature.

The training will take place on 2nd- 8th May 2016 in Israel! The training seminar is being organised by the Society for the Protection in Nature in Israel with AKTI Project and Research Centre being partners.

Two Green Cluster members will be accepted to participate. Participation fee is only 60 EUR. Accommodation and food during the training seminar will be covered.

AKTI’s Director, Xenia I.Loizidou, talks about the first Cypriot Marine Litter Database that was developed by ISOTECH’s and AKTI’s expert team, and which was named ‘Tool of the Month’ by the Mare Nostrum Network, in an interview given to the Cyprus News Agency. In her interview, Ms Loizidou also discussed the means to appropriately and sustainably protect our coasts from erosion. The interview has been re-published through several Cypriot Mass Media(electronic and traditional). You can read the interview here.

Η ΑΚΤΗ στις 6 Μαρτίου θα συμμετέχει στην αποκριάτικη παρέλαση της Αγλαντζιάς. Θέμα μας η ΤΗΓΑΝΟΚΙΝΗΣΗ και η δράση μας για την ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας στην Κοινωνία των Πολιτών Green Cluster.

Το μόνο που χρειάζεται να φέρετε είναι ένα παλιό τηγάνι και μια κουτάλα! Θα τα χτυπάμε και θα κάνουμε φασαρία! Αν θέλετε ελάτε με τα πατίνια σας! Η «στολή» (κίτρινο καπελάκι και T-shirt) θα δοθεί από την ΑΚΤΗ στην ομάδα επί τόπου, χωρίς οποιοδήποτε κόστος, για αυτό δηλώστε τη συμμετοχή σας, γιατί είναι σημαντικό να ξέρουμε τον ακριβή αριθμό συμμετεχόντων.
